Here is a reprint of the bulletin that was handed out at this week's worship service:

Kids4Christ (K4C) Sunday School Spring Semester Begins!
Our Kids4Christ Sunday School will begin their Spring Semester today, January 21st. This Spring Semester our K4C teachers will be focusing on the New Testament stories, using the synoptic gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Today, our K4C will hear the story of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness and how Jesus used scripture to stay strong when tempted by the devil. The theme for today is “Monkey See, Monkey Do, Jesus Knew the Scriptures and So Should You!”

January is Lutheran World Relief Service Month!
Would you like to do something hands-on for displaced people? Living Faith will be participating in two Lutheran World Relief (LWR) projects all of which can be done at home and brought to worship on Sunday, February 4th for blessing and dedication.

Project Promise Personal Care Kits: Prepare a Personal Care Kit that will be shared with someone who has lost everything from a natural disaster or life-threatening violence.

One metal nail clippers, out of the package

Project Promise Bars of Soap: No one likes to be dirty. A brand new bar of soap lets someone present him- or herself with dignity, keep hands clean and stay healthy.
What is needed for Project Promise Bars of Soap?
Individual new wrapped bars of soap (any brand)
Bath Size Bars are preferred (4-5 oz)

Living Faith Church Giving Envelopes Available
The 2018 Living Faith Church Giving Envelopes have arrived. For those who like to give their monetary offering via cash or check, numbered and pre-printed dated envelopes are now available for you to use. Each “set” contains envelopes that contain a number as well as a giving date. The number on each envelope is static while the date will reflect the Sunday giving date. Since this is the first time we are using a numerical envelope system, there is no need for you to tell us which set of envelopes you are taking. When you use them the first time, your name and number will be recorded in the Living Faith management system. Thank you for your continued financial stewardship of the work God is doing through Living Faith!

Kids4Christ (K4C) Sunday School Spring Semester Teachers & Assistants Needed
We are in need of teachers and assistants to work with our children. We are all called to tell (teach) the stories of our faithful God to our children so that they too can grow in their faith, their trust, in our LORD. Are you a bit frightened to teach or assist? Hear these words of promise as spoken by the LORD through the prophet Isaiah “Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, …” (Isaiah 41:10). If you are interested in learning more about working with our K4C team, please speak with Sharon Corcoran.

Saturday, February 4th - 2PM - 2:45PM Four Chaplains Memorial Service
The Four Chaplains Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 4th at 2PM at the Veterans Memorial Park Ceremonial Pentagon located at 2100 SE Veterans Memorial Pkwy, Port St Lucie, FL 34952. At this service, various clergy and leaders of the Interfaith Clergy Alliance of St. Lucie County will read the in-depth account of the Four Chaplains.

The Four Chaplains (also known as the “Immortal Chaplains” or the “Dorchester Chaplains”) were four United States Army chaplains who gave their lives to save other civilian and military personnel as the troop ship SS Dorchester sank on February 3, 1943 during World War II. These chaplains helped other soldiers board lifeboats and gave up their own life jackets when the supply ran out. Eyewitnesses report that they ( Rev. George L. Fox, Methodist Minister; Rabbi Alexander D. Goode, Reform Jewish Rabbi; Father John P. Washington, Roman Catholic Priest; Rev. Clark V. Poling, Reformed Minister) joined arms, said prayers, and sang hymns as they went down with the ship. February 3, 2018 marks the 75th Anniversary of the sinking of the SS Dorchester. The Vietnam Veterans of America, Michael F. Bradley Chapter 577 will be present to post and retire colors.

Here is a reprint of the bulletin that was handed out at this week's worship service:

Church Come And: See Me; Feel Me; Touch Me; Heal Me
This is the third season of the church year - the one we call the Time after Epiphany. It is more commonly referred to as the season of Epiphany. It is the time of manifestation. It is the time of insight. It is the time of revelation. Epiphany is the making known of Jesus as the Savior - God incarnate - God with us - God for us - who will bring us back into relationship with God forever.

Throughout our lives as we grow we have sudden insights or sudden revelations or what we may call epiphany moments. It is the moment that the “light bulb” goes off in our heads/brains and we gleefully shout “ now I understand” or even “ now I see” or more commonly “WOW - I get it” And when that epiphany happens we look back on events in our lives with a new insight. We see things differently. We may even understand outcomes differently. And we move forward in our interactions and experiences differently.

Our Epiphany focus this year will be about experiencing Jesus’ call to us in a new way. This season we will explore what it means to be called by Jesus to “Come and…” Through the gospel of Mark, over the next 4 weeks together we will hear Jesus saying to the disciples and to us today “Come And… See Me; Come and Feel Me; Come and Touch Me; Come and Heal Me.”

So the invitation has been set for you to you - “Come And”…. let the Holy Spirit open your mind and your heart so that you too may have that epiphany moment where you gleefully shout “WOW - I get it."

This week's bulletin. A copy of the bulletin that was handed out at our 01-07-18 worship service...

Baptized Stewards of God’s Grace: 2018 Stewardship Affirmation Practices
Many were away during our time of reflection, conversation and affirmation of what it means to be a child of God, entrusted with gifts from God that have been graciously given. This morning as we celebrate the Baptism of Our Lord, we remember our own baptism and how the gift of the Holy Spirit has changed our lives here on earth. This morning we call to mind again the promises given and how we are called to live anew.

As God’s grace was poured out upon us at our baptism in the water with God’s promise of grace, mercy and forgiveness given through Jesus Christ, we became a member of God’s family. And as children of God, disciples of Christ, we affirm a new way of being. Living in this world with its many demands can cause us to forget about these affirmations. For 2018, this Living Faith community - all of us together - are called to engage in 3 specific practices that will strengthen our trust in the Lord: Give Generously, Worship Regularly and Serve Joyfully.

If you have not done so, please take time this week to review the Living Faith 2018 Stewardship Affirmation Card. Set aside intentional time to pray, reflect and affirm the ways in which you will strengthen your walk with Christ and your stewardship of the gifts of Time, Talent and Treasure over the coming twelve months. Then complete the Living Faith 2018 Stewardship Affirmation Card and return it in the offering plate next Sunday. For those who have completed their 2018 Affirmations, now is the time to put those affirmations into practice. Through these practices, we will all be brought to a new and deeper life in which we Live into our Faith (trust) in our Faithful (gracious and loving) God.

Saturday - January 13th - It’s Time to Celebrate!!
On Saturday, January 13th Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palm City will celebrate their 30th anniversary as an organized congregation in the ELCA. January, 2018 marks the 30th anniversary of the formation of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). Immanuel Lutheran was the first congregation to organize under the newly formed ELCA on January 1, 1988. Immanuel has been instrumental in the launch of Living Faith Church.

On January 13, 2013, when Immanuel celebrated their 25th anniversary, an announcement was made that a new Mission Developer - Pastor Maryanne Kehlenbach - would begin ministry work in the Tradition community on July 1, 2013. Immanuel has been a prayer partner as well as a strong financial supporter of Living Faith Church to help “get us off the ground”. With their support and through the work of the Holy Spirit Living Faith Church organized as a congregation in the ELCA on April 20, 2017.

It is fitting that we should celebrate our organization as a congregation with Immanuel on January 13, 2018. We will gather at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palm City at 4:30 PM for a celebratory worship service followed by a pot-luck hosted by both congregations. Mark this date on your calendar as together our congregations celebrate the ministry work in Palm City and Tradition. The newly elected Bishop Pedro Suarez will be joining all of us in this wonderful celebration! Immanuel Lutheran Church is located at 2655 SW Immanuel Dr, Palm City, FL 34990

Lord, You make all things new
You bring hope alive in our hearts
And cause our Spirits to be born again.

Thank you for this new year
For all the potential it holds.
Come and kindle in us

So that in our time, many will see the wonders of God
And live forever to praise Your glorious name.
